Worldwide Travel Insurance

Many long term travellers will be visiting numerous destinations around the world on their travels and so require worldwide travel insurance to cover their requirements. Whether you are stopping off in Europe, South America, Asia or any of the other exotic spots around the globe, it’s important that you get travel insurance which will cover you in all the countries you are visiting. Navigator Travel’s aim is to get you a suitable worldwide travel insurance policy for your needs so you can travel around the world safe in the knowledge that you’re covered for unexpected medical problems and other problems that can occur whilst travelling.

The finer details of your travel insurance policy will depend on which specific places you are visiting and what you plan to do there. Worldwide travellers may not know exactly where their travels will lead them during the course of their trip, but it’s important to make a qualified estimate beforehand so you can arrange as much of the details before you hit the road and concentrate on the good times whilst you’re away. Medical costs and other risks in Africa may differ considerably from those for North and Central America and this can affect the cost and validity of cover so it’s certainly in your interests to have an outline of your itinerary when you come to choosing a travel insurance policy.

Another important consideration is the types of activities that will be included in your round the world trip. Again, this is always liable to change, but usually travellers will have an idea of some of the bigger activities they will take on. This may be a bungee jump in New Zealand, a skydive in California or scuba diving in Australia – whatever the activity, this needs to be highlighted in your worldwide travel insurance policy and you need to ensure that they are included. For the more ad hoc activities (maybe a spot of Muay Thai training in Bangkok or some hang gliding in Rio de Janeiro) you can always upgrade your policy online or include add-ons, but its best to have cover for the major activities in advance to save you the hassle of organizing these details in an internet cafe with a slow connection or via an expensive phone call. The SILVER and GOLD Long Stay versions of our travel insurance policies cover a wide range of activities as standard (Leisure). However, if you need cover for participation in the more hazardous Action or Action Plus activities, you would need to select the BACKPACKER or STANDARD policies. Although the levels of cover are lower on these two policies, they can cover more hazardous sports.

Navigator offer four main worldwide travel insurance policies, BACKPACKER, STANDARD, SILVER and GOLD. The Navigator BACKPACKER policy is the more basic of the four packages, suitable for worldwide travellers who just want to see the amazing sites around the world without the need for high levels of cover. The SILVER or GOLD policy will be a more suitable choice for those who prefer higher cover levels, with additional enhancements such as holiday financial protection, hijack and mugging compensation, pet care, business personnel replacement etc. Check out the summaries of the different types of cover available on our policies pages. For long term travellers, our Long Stay worldwide travel insurance will most likely be the best choice, though there are other options to consider depending on the length of your trip:
