For travellers who enjoy the sport of scuba diving, it’s important to take out a travel insurance policy. Whether scuba diving off white sand beaches in the islands of the Caribbean, exploring the Aegean Sea off the Greek islands or taking to the water on Australia’s Great Barrier Reef, it is important to always ensure the correct coverage.
While many scuba diving trips are safe, other destinations can be a little more dangerous. For example, if diving off Coco’s Island in Costa Rica the mere fact that the location is remote can be a risk in itself, but there’s also the danger of the many sharks swimming in the waters around the island.
Another risky, but incredibly beautiful, scuba diving location is the Blue Hole off the coast of Belize. While the destination offers beautifully clear waters, teeming with marine wildlife, with a depth of 407ft the Blue Hole offers real challenges to even the most experienced divers due to jagged stalactite formations on the limestone walls.
It is destinations such as these that encourage travellers to ensure the best possible travel insurance coverage, not only to cover the possibility of lost luggage or cancelled trips but also for medical cover in foreign destinations.
Scuba diving depth limit on our Navigator Standard, Enhanced, Prime and Supreme policies is 15 metres as standard, although this can be increased to 30 or 40 metres at extra cost. Our Travel Plus policies cover scuba diving to 30 metres as standard.
If the whole family loves the diving experience, or if travelling with a group of friends, bear in mind that an excellent saving can be made by purchasing a group travel insurance policy. For those that like to regularly go on scuba diving trips, a further saving can be made by purchasing an annual multi-trip package. Get in touch for more information.
