European travel insurance

If you are planning a short break, a longer touring holiday or working in Europe, check out our European Travel Insurance rates. These are available for Short Stay single trips of up to 45 days, Long Stay single trips from 2 months up to 18 months, or as an Annual Multi-Trip policy that covers any number of trips up to 45 days duration in a 12 month period.

Wide-Reaching

The prices are significantly lower than Worldwide travel insurance rates and we have a surprising definition of “Europe” for insurance pricing purposes. With our Silver and Gold policies, you can use the cheaper European Travel Insurance rates for trips to the entire continent of Europe.

You can also use these policies for visits to Turkey and any country with a Mediterranean coastline (with the exception of Algeria, Libya, Syria and Israel). This means that you can visit countries such as Egypt, Tunisia and Morocco on European rates! Some island destinations, such as the Channel Islands, Canary Islands, Madeira and Iceland are also classed as Europe.

Our BACKPACKER and STANDARD policies have a slightly different definition of Europe: All countries west of the Ural Mountains, Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Turkey, the Azores, Mediterranean islands.

Suitable for All Trips

Our Short Stay and Annual Multi Trip European policies work the same way as Worldwide rates for sports and activities, the Silver and Gold policies being available in Leisure, Action and Action Plus versions, depending on which sports and activities need to be covered. Silver and Gold Long Stay policies will only cover activities in the Leisure category. The Backpacker and Standard policies, have a different system, with Activity Packs 1-8 on Short Stay and Annual Multi-Trip and 1-4 on Long Stay. If you are touring Europe (on road) by car or by motorcycle, you can use the Activity Pack 1 (Backpacker/Standard) or Leisure rates (Silver and Gold), with no extra to pay (conditions apply). Cover for longer periods of motorcycling is only available on Backpacker and Standard Longstay policies. The Silver and Gold policies restrict motorcycling to 14 days.
